Information for Out-of-State Patients

Book an Appointment

As the region’s most experienced sinus sub-specialist, I often receive referrals from other Ear Nose and Throat surgeons to help care for their patients with complex sinus disorders. Frequently these patients live in other states. My team and I have set up a system to help make the process as easy as possible. This includes:

This is done via video telemedicine appointment. Here I will review your medical history, symptoms, and CT scan images. Using telemedicine for this “visit” is convenient and saves one trip to my clinic.

My nurse and anesthesiologist will be calling you to discuss your medical history and logistics for surgery if surgery is decided.

Surgery is normally done as an outpatient at our convenient surgery center attached to my clinical practice: https://entpuyallup.com/surgery-center/surgery-center-overview/hillside-medical-surgery-center/

Patients fly to Seattle (Sea-Tac airport) the day before surgery. There are two hotels I recommend located near my practice, about a 30 minute drive from Sea-Tac airport:

This visit is very important to ensure proper healing. It usually involves a gentle “debridement” procedure where I numb up the inside of the nose with anesthetic spray, then gently remove any debris that has not washed out with the frequent post-operative sinus irrigations.

Patients tend to either stay in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area for 1 week and then see me for their first post-operative appointment or can fly home the day after surgery and return to my clinic for their post-op visit 2 weeks after surgery. A second post-op visit is usually scheduled 1 month after the first post-op visit, normally 5-6 weeks after surgery. Occasionally, patients can follow up with their local ENT surgeon for this visit, but sometimes I request they return to my clinic if additional specialized care is needed or if the patient prefers to see me.
